It was a beautiful day at Little Corona Del Mar Beach in Newport yesterday (I’m back in Southern California for a few weeks). It reminded me why I love painting the coast. There’s nothing like perfect weather, the beach and some paint brushes in hand.

First stop Crescent City, CA. I just love the soft grays at this time of year in Northern California. They make even the redwood trees on the mountains in this painting appear to be a flat purple shape.
